Cork is made from the bark of the cork oak tree which is found in Portugal, Spain and some areas of North Africa. The harvest of cork does not involve damaging or cutting down the tree making it a 100% renewable resource. Naturally insulating, cork floors are ideal for basements to protect against heat loss and for sound proofing.
Cork floors are installed by fitting pieces together like a puzzle similar to a floating floor and can be done over any floor (wood, concrete, ceramic, linoleum etc.) as long as the surface is level and a thin membrane is installed over it.
